Between the Lines

Between the Lines is an exclusive, FAI members-only live interview series exploring the creative process of some of folk’s most fascinating minds. Hosting the first season is John Platt, veteran folk DJ and founder of the New Folk Initiative, who will be interviewing four recipients from the 2021 International Folk Music Awards.

The first guest is David Harrington, the founder of Kronos Quartet, whose album “Long Time Passing: Kronos Quartet & Friends Celebrate Pete Seeger” won the award for 2020 Album of the Year. Future guests include The War and Treaty (Artist of the Year), Eliza Gilkyson (Song of the Year), and Raye Zaragoza (Rising Tide Award).

Season one host: John Platt, founder of New Folk Initiative

The series will be held online at 7 pm CT on the last Tuesday of the month from March through June. Each event will feature a live* 45-minute interview, followed by a 15-minute Q&A to allow our community to dig a little deeper and connect with the artists. Following the Q&A, we’ll host a post-event social hour in our own Bramble virtual venue where members can connect and catch up with each other in a completely unique way!

If you aren’t an FAI member yet, you can become a member here. We now offer payment plans for all industry membership types, which are optional at checkout. If you have any questions about membership, please contact Jerod Rivers at membership@folk.org or 816-221-3655.

*A recording of each interview will be available to FAI members for 24 hours after the event, to accommodate folks in other timezones.
