Germán López is considered to be the world’s leading virtuoso on the timple, a small melodious five-stringed guitar native to the Canary Islands. While acknowledging the instrument’s folkloric past, López takes the timple into new territory, inspired by jazz, Cuban, African and Latin American sources and by maestros such as Pat Metheny, Richard Bona and Paco De Lucia.
