Artist Bio:
Sophie Lukacs is a Hungarian-Canadian kora player and singer- songwriter. With a long foundation in classical music (violin), as well as 6 years studying the kora in Bamako, Mali (invited by renown kora player Toumani Diabaté), Sophie is able to move out of the traditional repertoire often associated with the kora, creating her unique sound: a melange of folk-pop-mandingue, with catchy original melodies. She sings in English, Bambara, and Hungarian, and is accompanied by cello and percussion. Her debut album will be released Summer 2022.
