Intimate Concerts in Hotel Bedrooms

FAI is one of the few music industry conferences that offers everyone in attendance the opportunity to present independent showcases and allows all artists to play self-presented sets for all attending industry representatives.

Private Showcases are not open to the public. You must register for the conference to perform or attend a Private Showcase. Artists are limited to six (6) Private Showcases. Private Showcases take place from 10:30 pm – 3 am CT Wednesday, February 21 through Saturday, February 24.

Since we have reached the maximum number of Private Showcase rooms, we are no longer accepting Private Showcase Host applications for the FAI 2024 Conference.

Hosting a Private Showcase Room

Private Showcases will take place from 10:30 pm – 3 am CT Wednesday through Saturday on the 5th – 8th floors of Westin Crown Center Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri, primarily in guest rooms and suites. Each individual room is contracted out to a Private Showcase Host who in turn books and schedules performances of registered conference attendees. Anyone can apply to become a Private Showcase Host (examples: labels, organizations, agents, artists, etc).

Hosts are required to program a room for a minimum of three (3) nights in a regular guest room. Suite holders are required to program a room for four (4) nights. If a suite holder wants to present for three nights, FAI will consider exceptions on a case by case basis based on a commitment to exhibiting, advertising, or sponsorship. Please contact our Private Showcase Coordinator at privateshowcase@folk.org if you have any questions about the process as a host. 

Hosts must pay a $150 USD to apply for a standard/un-amplified room or $250 USD to apply for an amplified room (premium room or suite). Premium Rooms and Suites are now full for 2024. 

The application fee is non-refundable; however, FAI will refund the $100 premium upgrade if placed in a regular room. This fee is separate from the cost of the room, chair rental, bed removal, hospitality, and conference registration.

Room Fees

 

  • Standard Guest Room (48 total, 5th-7th floor) – $173/night plus taxes & fees (current total $206.74) x 3 night minimum = $620.22 USD

    Premium Rooms and Suites are now full for 2024.
     
  • Premium Rooms, Amplified (11 total, 5th-7th floor) – $173/night plus taxes & fees (current total $206.74) x 3 night minimum = $620.22 USD
  • Executive Suites*, Amplified (six total, 5th floor) – flat fee for all four nights = $2,000 USD
  • Two Room Suites*, Amplified (four total, 7th-8th floor) – $346/night plus taxes & fees (current total $413.48) x 4 night minimum = $1,653.92 USD
  • Three Room Suites*, Amplified (two total, 7th-8th floor) – $504/night plus taxes & fees (current total $601.82) x 4 night minimum = $2,480.88 USD

*Suites are only available to host who have hosted a room in the past and are first offered to those who hosted the previous year. A waitlist is managed by the Private Showcase Coordinator. 

Other Optional Fees

Bed Removal – $150 flat fee for each room
Chairs – $5/each chair
