10 Ways to Save
Conferences can quickly get expensive. That’s why we’ve put together some ways you can save on your 2024 FAI Conference registration and more!
1. Artist Discount! Save up to $470
When you register as an artist, the savings are automatically applied. Are you an artist and a member of FAI? Then you take advantage of both the artist and member discounts!
2. Registration cap for Official Showcase Artists
We cap our registration fees for large bands at $775, for Official Showcase Artists and artists on standby, with a band of more than four people. This means that you don’t have to pay to register every additional member. Official Showcase Artists and artists on standby will not be known until September 2023. You must be an FAI member to qualify for this rate. If you have four or more people in your band who will all be attending, please contact Folk Alliance International at fai@folk.org to receive a code for your registration. DO NOT REGISTER UNTIL YOU GET YOUR CODE.
3. Volunteer for free registration!
When you volunteer for at least 16 hours of the conference, your registration fee is waived. Apply here to become a volunteer. Any Folk Alliance International member over the age of 16 can volunteer.
4. Become a Member! Save up to $295
Being an FAI member always saves you at least $100 off the Standard Rate. Anyone can become a member, and it gives you access to the member discounts, scholarships, volunteering, and more. Become an FAI member today!
5. Hotel booking and sharing
The Westin Kansas City Hotel and Sheraton Kansas City Hotel are our official hotels for the conference. You get a discounted booking when you use the links on our Hotel Booking page!

6. Student Discount: comes with an FAI Membership! Save up to $520
If you’re a student wanting to attend the FAI Conference, you can take advantage of our student pricing by registering as a student and providing your current student ID.
7. The earlier you register, the more you save
June 1 – July 31: Registration fees are at their lowest for our FAI member-exclusive Early Bird rate.
August 1 – October 31: Take advantage of our Advanced Rate, with the biggest savings for non-members.
November 1 – Jan 31: Our Regular Rate takes effect, though member, artist, and student discounts still apply!
Feb 1 – Feb 24: Members, artists, and students still get their discounts, but you definitely want to apply before February!
8. First time? Apply for a scholarship! Save 50-100% of Registration
We have scholarships available for first-time conference goers! Scholarships typically cover between 50%-100% of your registration. You must be a member of FAI to receive a scholarship, but feel free to apply and then become a member once you’ve been accepted. Priority is given to Official Showcase applicants and folks who have attended regional conferences (FARM, FAR-West, NERFA, Nordic Folk Alliance, SERFA, and SWRFA).
9. Referral Reward Program
You can receive a $50 payment for each referral you make up to the full amount of your registration. Each referral must be attending the conference for the first time and pay to register. For more info, visit our Referral Program Page.
10. Day Passes are available
If you can only make it out for one day, register for a Day Pass. This is only available for Industry registrations.
