Artist Scholarships
- Must be a current member of Folk Alliance International (you can join once you’ve been notified of scholarship acceptance).
- Must be a first-time attendee for an in-person conference.
- Priority will be given to Official Showcase applicants.
- Priority will be given to artists who attend FAI regional conferences.
- Scholarship amounts can range from 50-100% conference registration discount (does not include travel or hotel).
- Members of a group must apply individually.
- Scholarships awarded are based on the availability of funds (FAI welcomes donations to the Scholarships Fund).
- The first round of scholarships will be awarded on September 20, 2023. Starting in October 2023, new applications will be reviewed twice a month near the 15th and 30th.
- Please do not register for the conference until you received a scholarship notice. If you do not qualify for a scholarship, you will be able to register at the registration rate when you applied.
- Questions on the application include the following: Have you attended any other music conferences or professional development seminars? If so, please describe your experience; What is your motivation for attending the conference? Do you have any industry needs?; and, What skills are you trying to develop or improve while attending the conference? How will the conference help advance your career?
Industry Scholarships
- Must be a member of Folk Alliance International (you can join once you’ve been notified of scholarship acceptance).
- Must be a first-time attendee for an in-person conference (if Folk Unlocked was your first conference, you still qualify!).
- Scholarship amounts are typically for a 100% conference registration discount (does not include travel or hotel).
- Scholarships are awarded on a first-come basis.
- Applications will be reviewed twice a month near the 15th and 30th.
- Please do not register for the conference until you received a scholarship notice. If you do not qualify for a scholarship, you will be able to register at the registration rate when you applied.
- Scholarships awarded are based on the availability of funds (FAI welcomes donations to the Scholarships Fund).
- Questions on the application include the following: Have you attended any other music conferences or professional development seminars? If so, please describe your experience; Briefly describe yourself or your company.; Briefly describe how attending the conference will be beneficial and what you want to accomplish; and, List the last 5-10 artists you have booked, worked with, and/or represented.
- Recipients are notified twice monthly starting in September.
