Best Folk Album GRAMMY™ Submissions Open Now

The Recording Academy is now accepting entries for the 66th GRAMMY Awards nominees. As a member of the Recording Academy, Folk Alliance International is happy to submit an entry for Best Folk Album on behalf of our members. If you have released a folk album during the eligible time period (October 1, 2022 – September 15, 2023), please fill out the form linked below to submit.

Only FAI members are eligible for this submission. Become a member today!

Why We Submit

As part of our mission to preserve, promote, and present folk music, Folk Alliance International is dedicated to ensuring our community’s presence at the highest levels of industry. The GRAMMY ™ Awards represent one of the industry’s highest honors, and artists of all genres submit their work to one of 94 Categories for consideration.

However, if a Category falls under a substantial number of submissions, that Category is at risk. If a Category receives 39 or less entries, the number of final nominees is reduced from five to three. If the Category receives less than 25 entries, the Category is immediately put on hiatus for that year. If this happens for three consecutive years, the Category is discontinued. Submissions are then moved to the next most relevant Category.

You can help to ensure that folk music is always represented at the GRAMMY Awards. Historically, folk music Categories have been at risk, and many have been discontinued or consolidated in past years, like the combination of the Best Traditional Folk Album and Best Contemporary Folk Album Categories into the now Best Folk Album Category.

With persistent entries to the Best Folk Album Category, our community directly illustrates the need for continued and more diverse representation. If you have submitted a folk album during the eligible time period (October 1, 2022 – September 15, 2023), please consider submitting your album for a GRAMMY nomination.
