We’ve gathered this list of articles, trainings, and self-education resources related to anti-racism to help our community members navigate the fight for social justice. We’ll be regularly updating this list and categorizing as it fills up, so if you have anything you’d like to add, please email fai@folk.org.
Folk Alliance International is committed to a balanced and healthy music community, encourages self-care, and appreciates that living as a musician or music industry professional can be a real challenge, with a higher risk for mental illness and substance abuse.
FAI members can receive exclusive access to the The North American College and Community (NACC) Folk Chart. Members who are industry professionals can subscribe to access the folk chart for $50/month. Members who are artists can access the folk chart for $25/month with a three-month minimum.
In 2009, FAI reached an agreement with ASCAP and BMI to ensure that Folk Alliance member House Concert Presenters are not subject to any PRO fees. There is NO additional fee or change in membership status to qualify for this member service, but you must be a current member to qualify for this program.
As emphatically as Folk Alliance International welcomes all people to our events and
organization, we also reject all forms of discrimination and harassment. We invite
everyone who works and participates in our music community to commit to adopting the
following pledge. Also included are suggested actions and resources to create a more safe music
community.
The Village Fund is a grant program for folk artists and independent music industry professionals experiencing financial hardship, administered by Folk Alliance International.
