10 Ways to Save
Attending a music industry conference like FAI is an investment, but it doesn't have to break the bank. Here are some ways to save on your trip to FAI 2025 – or even attend for free!
1. FAI Membership Discount
When you become an FAI Member, not only do you get access to a list of great benefits, you instantly save on the FAI Conference too!
- FAI Members get $150 off the current regular FAI registration price
- FAI Members get 50% off Official Showcase Application fees
This discount stacks with the Artist Registration discount so if you're both an FAI Member and an artist, you'll save big without lifting a finger.
2. Volunteer at FAI 2025
When you commit to volunteering for sixteen (16) hours at FAI 2025, your registration fee is waived!
You get to attend for free and you get to be part of our amazing team! It's a great way to give to and connect with our community, and great way to get to FAI 2025 on a budget!
3. First time? Apply for a scholarship and save 50-100%
We have scholarships available for first-time conference goers!
Scholarships typically cover between 50%-100% of your registration. You must be a member of FAI to receive a scholarship, but feel free to apply and then become a member once you’ve been accepted.
Priority is given to Official Showcase applicants and folks who have attended regional conferences (FARM, FAR-West, NERFA, Nordic Folk Alliance, SERFA, and SWRFA).
4. Artist Registration Discount
We know it's tough being an artist, so artists always save at FAI. When you register as an artist, the artist discount is automatically applied to your registration.
This discount stacks with the FAI Membership discount.

5. Registration Cap for Official Showcase Artists
Bringing a 10-piece band to FAI 2025? Go ahead! We cap our registration fees at $775 for large bands of four or more people so you don't have to pay to register every single member.
This only applies to Official Showcase Artists and Standby artists. Official Showcase Artists and artists on standby will not be known until August 2024. You must be an FAI member to qualify for this rate. If you have four or more people in your band who will all be attending, please contact Folk Alliance International at fai@folk.org to receive a code for your registration, but DO NOT REGISTER UNTIL YOU GET YOUR CODE.
6. Hotel Booking, Room and Ride Sharing
The Westin Kansas City Hotel and Sheraton Kansas City Hotel are our official hotels for the conference. You get a discounted booking when you use the links on our Hotel Booking page!
Want to split the cost of a hotel room? Join our community platform Chorus where you and others can post that you’re looking to share a room or ride from the airport!
7. Student Discount – FAI Membership Included
If you’re a student wanting to attend the FAI Conference, you can take advantage of our student pricing by registering as a student and providing your current student ID.
8. Referral Program
You can receive a $50 payment for each conference referral you make up to the full amount of your registration. Each referral must be attending the conference for the first time and pay to register.
9. Day Passes
If you can only make it out for one day, register for a Day Pass! This is only available for Industry registrations.
10. The earlier you register, the more you save
Early Bird
June 1 – July 31
Registration fees are at their lowest for our FAI Member-exclusive Early Bird rate. Become a member to access these prices.
Advanced
August 1 – October 31
Registration opens to everyone! At the lowest rate for non-members.
Regular
November 1 – Jan 31
Our Regular Rate takes effect, though member, artist, and student discounts still apply!
Final
Feb 1 – Feb 22
Members, artists, and students still get their discounts, but you definitely want to apply before February!
