Membership Types

FAI offers various types of memberships. Read below to find out which membership type is right for you.

Our membership year runs from May 1 – April 30. All FAI memberships expire annually on April 30 of each year. Renewal reminders will be sent 30 days prior to April 30 each year, or if your membership is set to auto-renew, it will auto-renew on that date.

We now offer payment plans on all industry memberships!

Become a Member

For individual artists and industry professionals:

Individual Membership – $99/year

This membership covers any individual who is part of the folk music industry. It is NOT for companies, festivals, groups, bands or organizations.

One (1) accont authorized under this membership for FAI benefits and discounts.
One (1) vote in FAI elections and for all membership vote items.
Eligible to run for elections for the FAI Board of Directors.
Member benefits are non-transferable.

Lifetime Membership – $1,400

A one-time charge of $1,400. No yearly dues! Payment plans available (inquire with membership@folk.org for details)
Same rules as Individual membership, but included in all listings as a lifetime member.
No need to renew, ever!

Partner Membership – $140/year

This membership is for two (2) life, business, or performing partners. This membership is for two associated individuals. This membership is not applicable to businesses or organizations.

Two (2) accounts may be authorized under this membership for FAI benefits and discounts.
Ballots carry a weight of two (2) in all member-voted awards and elections.
Eligible to run for elections for the FAI Board of Directors.
Add your partner's sub-account after the membership is approved.

For bands and organizations:

Small Organization / Band – $210/year

Musical acts or bands with 3 or more members.

For-Profit Organizations/festivals/agencies with an annual budget less than $250,000.

Not-for-Profit Organizations with an annual budget of less than $375,000.

This membership can have unlimited sub-accounts authorized for FAI benefits and discounts.
Ballots carry a weight of three (3) in all member-voted awards and elections.
Add the additional sub-accounts after the membership is approved.

Medium Organization – $350/year

For-Profit Organizations/festivals/agencies with an annual budget between $250,000 and $750,000.

Not-for-Profit Organizations with an annual budget between $375,000 and $1 Million.

This membership can have unlimited sub-accounts authorized for FAI benefits and discounts.
Ballots carry a weight of five (5) in all member-voted awards and elections.
Add the additional sub-accounts after the membership is approved.

Large Organization – $700/year

For-Profit Organizations/festivals/agencies with an annual budget more than $750,000.

Not-for-Profit Organizations with an annual budget of more than $1 Million.

This membership can have unlimited sub-accounts authorized for FAI benefits and discounts.
Ballots carry a weight of ten (10) in all member-voted awards and elections.
Add the additional sub-accounts after the membership is approved.

For non-industry and non-artists

‍

Community Membership – $70/year

This non-voting membership is reserved for non-industry professionals, non-artist members – mostly active fans, students, volunteers, or enthusiasts. Non-voting memberships are for those who don’t participate in the music industry but still support the goals of Folk Alliance International. Anyone who works in the industry will not be approved for this type, please purchase a voting membership.

Note: Non-Voting memberships do not receive a discount to the conference and are ineligible to vote in elections, hold office or apply for showcases. Volunteers receive a free conference registration even if they're a non-voting Community Member.
