Conference Hotel Update from Jennifer Roe, FAI’s Executive Director
Dear FAI Community,
We deeply appreciate the time, energy, and excitement you’ve already invested in planning for the FAI 2025 conference. Your dedication to making this event a success means the world to us, and we’re committed to delivering an exceptional experience for everyone involved.
Today, we’re reaching out with an important update regarding the conference venue. Due to an ongoing workers’ strike at the Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth, we’ve made the necessary decision to relocate the event. The Fairmont is currently advising clients to move scheduled events to other hotels because it is unknown when the strike will resolve. As an organization that values ethical practices and supports workers’ rights, we believe this is the right choice to align with our principles and commitment to our community.
We are pleased to announce that the FAI 2025 conference will now be held at the Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel, located at 1201 René-Lévesque Blvd W, Montréal, Quebec H3B 2L7, Canada, which is a city block from the Fairmont. The Sheraton offers excellent facilities and amenities that will fully meet the needs of our event and more cost-effective room rates for our members. While the hotel is smaller in square feet, we’re confident it will provide the ideal setting for the meaningful connections, inspiring performances, and impactful discussions you’ve come to expect from FAI. Jerod Rivers, Conference Director, Alex Mallett, Deputy Director, and I toured the Sheraton personally this weekend, and we know it will work.
Here’s what you need to know:
- If you've already booked a room through our room block at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth, your room reservation will be canceled.
- Only conference registrants will receive the Sheraton reservation link to book a room at the host hotel. Check the registration list here to make sure that you are registered.
- If you are not currently registered, you should do so right away to ensure that you get early access to the link to book a room. There are many rooms available at the Sheraton, but we anticipate selling out the room block quickly.
To ensure transparency and answer any questions you may have, we are hosting a Zoom Town Hall meeting, open to anyone:
- Date and Time: Thursday, December 19 at 11am CT
- Zoom Link
We also have started a comprehensive FAQ document to address common concerns, including details about accommodations, programming, and logistics. This will be shared shortly after the Town Hall.
We understand that this change may require adjustments, and we are here to support you every step of the way. Your understanding and flexibility mean so much to us, and we’re committed to making FAI 2025 an incredible event.
Thank you for being an integral part of the Folk Alliance community. We look forward to connecting with you at the town hall and seeing you in Montréal soon!
Warm regards,
Jennifer Roe
