Who is Dalima Kapten?
Dalima Kapten is a musician who deeply believes in the profundity of storytelling as a road to intercultural empathy. She recently graduated from the University of Central Missouri with a Master's in Music Technology, and her work pays homage to her Kansas roots. Dalima’s music presents a surrealist diary of the Midwest alongside her primary band, including Spencer Reeve (Bassist), Daul Lee (Pianist), and Jade Harvey (Drummer). Dalima Kapten’s debut EP, Field Fire Burn, Burn, released in November 2024, blends genres familiar to the Midwest, such as singer-songwriter folk, jazz, country, and rock, with weight and grace.

Who is Jamogi & The Jammers?
By day, he’s a data logistics nerd — but by 5 PM, Jamogi transforms into a fierce, electric performer. A true entertainer at heart, Jamogi lights up stages across the city with his powerhouse band, The Jammers — a talented crew of musicians who can groove in any genre. From the silky smooth sounds of jazz to funk-soaked basslines and soul-stirring R&B, Jamogi & The Jammers deliver a dynamic, genre-blending experience that’s anything but ordinary. One thing’s for sure: you’ll never be bored at a Jamogi & The Jammers show.

This Finest Folk First Friday is a preview of the Kansas City Folk Festival, a free, all-day city festival on May 17 that celebrates the music and arts of our neighborhoods, region and beyond.
